Just when we thought things were getting better

If you are just joining in on our journey here is how it all began….
Part 1
Part 2

December 28th at 3:08pm

So I just gave him his first few bites of yogurt (first food in 6 days) and his heart monitor started wigging because he got so excited.  It's the little things in life...

 29th 8:27am
Quick update--
A lot happened over the night but unfortunately sleep was not one of them ๐Ÿ˜. Henry decided to "wake up" from all the anesthesia and started to act like any baby would that was recovery from surgery.  He was pretty fussy, irritable and uncomfortable all night but as crazy as it may sound I was glad to have him back.  I was able to pick him up, sing to him and try to rock him to sleep a few times.  These are big changes from the past two days.  He is peeing and pooping like a champ so now our biggest prayer request is that he can keep down food, liquids and his medicine.  He threw up from about lunch time yesterday until midnight.  The doctors say that is normal but it seemed pretty discouraging to me.  He has had a few bites if applesauce during the night and has held it down.  If he continues to do that all day then we will go home late tonight.  If not we will spend another night.  Thanks for your prayers!  PS if you talk to me today I might sound or actually be a little crazy. No sleep makes you a little loopy. ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ˜ด

**Nick went back to Athens to see the big kids this night.  We left for the hospital in such a minutes notice and we didn't want them to think we had forgotten them.  Henry and I got to Skype with them which made my heart so happy to see my big kids.  I missed them.  I missed them a lot.  I ached to have them all home together again.  The big kids were so brave and handled everything like a champ.  They were passed around to different friends houses each night until my family got well.  We were so thankful for family and friends during such a difficult time.

Look at that hot shot driving that red convertible.  He looked like a hot shot but he cried the whole time.

January 29th
Making big progress today! (or so we thought)

 January 29th 3:47pm

Sorry for so many updates today but just wanted y'all to know we will definitely be here one more night. He is doing well in all area except he is still not holding anything down:( please continue to pray his body can handle it soon-very soon.  On a positive note, he is becoming more and more playful as they day goes on.  Starting to clap, play peek a boo and smile.  That is the best reassurance to me that he is getting better!

30th 7:24
Henry will have an x-ray shortly to see if there are any other complications causing him not to be able to hold anything down. We covet your prayers.

30th 12:50
Still no word.  Still waiting. Today he is going through little spells of grimacing and seems uneasy.  Trying to figure out what's going on. Thanks for all the prayers. Keep them coming.

30th 4:36pm
We just heard back about the x-ray. Dr said everything looks fine.  She said it was just a major surgery and is going to take a long time to recover and every patient is different.  Some take longer than others.  I'm thankful that everything looks ok but it's still hard to watch him be so uncomfortable and not feel like we are making any progress.  Please pray that his little body will begin to heal more quickly and for patience for us, wisdom on when to wait and when to be assertive with doctors and for rest.  Nick and I are getting weary and need The Lord to give us extra strength.  Thanks for being such a wonderful support.  Love y'all.

30th
Head doctor that actually did the surgery just came in for the first time since surgery. He agreed with me that something is not right.  He said things are fine as far as the block is concerned but he should not be acting the way he is. He is going to look further into it. I feel so relieved someone is listening to me agreeing that something is not right.  Please pray for wisdom for him to figure out what is going on.

30th 8:27pm
Girls, can't thank y'all for coming up today. It really brightened our spirits, encouraged us, made us feel loved and of course gave me some fresh undies:) thank you for all you have done back in Athens to help us when we bring this nugget home. I wish more than anything that we were home right now with a healthy little boy but we aren't and we might not for a while. My heart aches. My heart is sad.  But knowing that I have the body of Christ to come along us keeps us going. Love y'all.

31st 10:29
He has had an ultrasound this morning to see if they can find anything else wrong.  We are now waiting for them to put a picc line in so he can start getting some nutrients. No food in 8 days.  Hoping this will help his body begin to heal.  Ways to pray-- that his bowels would 'wake up', that he would begin to perk up once he starts getting nutrients, that we will start to see major improvements soon.  Please pray for me and nick.  We are completely exhausted and weary. I'm praying we will hear some good news today to give me some encouragement.  I'm clinging to The Lord to carry me right now.  I have nothing left in me to keep going.  My parents are on their way and are going to get a hotel room for me to go take a nap in today.  I know that a few hours of sleep will do me good.  Nick just left for Athens to work for a little bit.  They said it could be three more days or two more weeks, we just don't know.  At the rate we have been going we can't sustain so we are going to try to get periods of sleep so we can continue to care for him.  Thanks for all your prayers, texts and calls.  Even if we can't respond they are very encouraging.  We need them right now.  And please pray I can see Henry smile today.  That would really encourage me.  Love y'all.

31st 12:50 from dad
Henry has had a lot going on this morning but sleeping through most of it.  Mom is washing clothes here at hospital and im about to take CJ to our hotel room for a long much needed nap.  Nick went to Athens to check in his office stuff.
Just kissed my baby good bye and checked into the hotel.  I'm off to lala land...

(Best two hour nap we have ever had.)
