Father's Day and Painted Toast

Word's can't express how grateful I am for the father of my children.  I married the sweetest, kindest, gentlest, craziest guy seven years ago and have fallen more in love with him as I have watched him teach, discipline, train, play, wrestle and love our two kids.  Nick, I love you and am so thankful to go on this wild journey of parenthood together.

We woke up early this morning to make daddy a special breakfast---bacon, eggs, fruit and painted toast.  Painted toast??  Sounds yummy, huh??  Well, it was really just a fun and super easy way to make an ordinary breakfast a little special for a very special someone.  Here is how we did it....
1.  Pour 1 T of milk into three small cups.
2.  Add one drop of food coloring to each cup. Mix well.
3. Dip a clean paintbrush (we used the tip of a paper towel because we didn't have a clean paintbrush) in milk, and paint the bread with a picture.
 4.  Toast the bread and add butter.
Wa la!  Painted toast for a special daddy!  It was extra fun to have Kelly staying with us to help out.
After church Pops and Grammy joined us and Kelly for grilled burgers and corn and roasted sweet potatoes.  This picture sums up how my kids feel about Pops.  They are absolutely crazy about him!!  He has been the most amazing example to Nick of a father that loves and adores his children.  He spends quality with them and shows unconditional love like our Heavenly Father has shown us.  We love you Pops and think you are the best daddy and Pops around!

Even though we did not see my dad this Sunday we celebrated early last weekend.  I'm not even sure how express how much I love my daddy!  Growing up we always joked that he might be a perfect dad.  I know that is impossible because we are all sinners but i think he comes pretty darn close;)  He is the kindest, gentlest, and most caring daddy and PoppyDoc and I am ever so thankful.

When I think of my father, my father-in-law and the father of my children my heart is over flowing with gratefulness.  They are a beautiful picture to me of the mercy and love that our Heavenly Father has given us.
