October 25th we were up bright and early at 4:00 am to head to the hospital to meet our new child.
I was excited, nervous, anxious, and eager to know if this "baby in the tummy" as we called it for 9 months was a girl or a boy.
My sweet sister Mary came with us to the hospital to support and celebrate with us. It was such a sweet distraction to look over there and see her big smile as I waited to be taken back for the c-section. My mom stayed at our house to keep Will, Molly Jane and Mary's kids so she could be there with us.
When the scrubs came out it was almost game time....
7 am and it's baby time.....
So thankful for the calm and loving support of Nick during the whole process.
Here is Dr. Sepesi safely delivering my third baby.
I'll never forget Nick peeking over the curtain and exclaiming "It's a, it's a BOY!" We thought it was a boy all along but alas it was so sweet to finally know that little munckin was a boy!! And a healthy 8 lb boy that was 20.5 inches long.
It was so surreal meeting my baby for the first time. I'll never forget the way he looked at me when he heard my voice. He knew me. He knew I was his mommy.
Nothing like snuggling for the first time and hearing his little panting and breathing on my neck.
I love him.
We love him.
Before long the room was flooded with aunts, grandmothers, grandfathers, brothers and sisters all coming to meet sweet baby Henry.
Henry's big brother and sister were so precious and excited to come meet their new brother. They were all smiles and couldn't wait to hold him.
They kissed him, rubbed his little head, patted his tummy and so gently loved on their new brother.
Molly Jane kept saying "He's my baby doll. I want to hold my baby doll."
Will's grin did not leave his face as he was so proud to be The Big Brother.
Our first picture as a family of five.
Our family is so blessed with two sets of wonderful grandparents.
Here is the whole Brannen family.
I gave Will and Molly Jane my brownies from my dinner plate as a little treat.
The next day cousin Porter and Paul came to meet baby Henry.
We skyped with Aunt Sara all the way in Paris. I am so very thankful for technology so that it can almost feel like they are here with us. It's not quite the same but I'll take it.
We had lots of friends come to visit which is always a favorite part of the hospital stay for me. A friend even brought Henry his first birthday cake.
After staying three nights we packed up and headed home.
Nick I came home with hearts overflowing with thankfulness. Thankfulness for a healthy baby, a healthy momma, grandparents keeping Will and Molly Jane, supportive friends and our new family of five!
