Yesterday was a life changing event for the Brannen family!
Our Grammy got a new kidney!!
Praise be to the Lord! It was nothing short of a miracle!
After waiting and waiting for many, many years for a kidney transplant the Lord orchestrated the most beautiful plan that he brought about in his perfect timing.
After many closed doors and disappointments Pops and Grammy still trusted that the Lord had the perfect donor. They did not know who, when or where but they still hoped that the Lord would provide someone and someone soon. Pops exhausted many resources trying to find someone willing and able to donate a kidney to his wife of 31 years. A few months ago he called a Christian radio station in Atlanta (104.7 The Fish) and told her story. On the other end of the radio station a complete stranger named Chuck heard it. The Lord laid it on his heart to call Emory to see if he could be a match. Lots of tests and prayers later they found him to be a perfect match! Who would have know this sweet and total stranger was the one the Lord had chosen to be the donor. He and his wife are true angels and we are forever grateful to them for their selflessness and generosity!
May 19, 2011 was the big day!
The waiting room was full of their support group starting at 6 am! It was a looooooong day of waiting for most of these people.

Molly Jane came with us and was a breath of fresh air as we waited for many hours to hear how the surgery was going. She stayed busy being passed around, eating and getting into anything and everything that she could. She was a trooper!
Before leaving Will and Molly Jane made Chuck a "Kidney Card" that read...
Thank you for saving our Grammy! We are so thankful! Love, Will and Molly Jane
Tears streamed down Chuck's wife's face as she read it.
Peggy's office put together a huge basket of goodies for their stay in the hospital.
It was such a relief when the surgeon came out and said "the kidney was in and was functioning perfectly!" What a relief for Pops to hear those words.
Molly Jane helped Pops call family and friends and tell them the good news.
Chuck's one request was to get a picture of his kidney. Well his wish was granted. A nurse took a picture of it and sent it to his wife during the surgery and here it is! Those are two happy and relieved spouses after hearing the good report.
About 6pm we got to see our Grammy after the recovery room. She said she was too happy to even cry. It makes me so happy that now she doesn't have to go to dialysis for the rest of her life and she can eat whatever she wants and will probably feel so much better. Praise the Lord for his perfect plan!
Now we are just praying for a speedy recovery for both Chuck and Peggy!
I'll be back soon with lake, birthday more pictures from this past week....
