Kitchen Before and After

One of our first projects in the house has been the kitchen.  It was VERY 90ish so I was dying to make it fresh, clean and updated.  We did not have much of a budget so with a little paint and hard work we were able to make it look totally different--a good different!

Here are some before pictures.  Notice the lovely wallpaper and brass hardware.  We were told the wallpaper cost $750 per roll.  I don't know a lot about wall paper but that sounds crazy to me.

The trim was GROSS around the floor and was peeling off around the hardware.

Here are the things we changed:

*removed wall paper
*painted walls with Benjamin Moore Healing Aloe (Love, love, love this color!!)
*repainted all cabinets and trim with oil based paint same color as before
*replaced brass hardware with nickel brushed hardware
*took off two of the cabinet doors

This was my faithful companion while I changed all the hardware.  That was a lot of screws my friends.

Taking off two of the cabinets was an inexpensive way to add some interest to the plain cabinets.

Breakfast Room After:

I am still working on picking out fabric to cover wicker chair cushions and putting up a shelf on wall in breakfast room.

The changes make for a much brighter and more cheerful place to cook and eat!

Christina, your kitchen is really beautiful! that color is great. and wasn't it fun painting the cabinets? (that's a joke - we painted ours too and I'm not sure I'll ever recover :))
I'm glad you like the shelves in our kitchen. they were simple to make -we had someone make them, but i think that you could easily do it yourself. we bought the brackets from home depot and the actual shelf is just lumber cut to size, sanded, primed & painted. I love them and they are super practical. I'm planning on a "kitchen reveal" post sometime soon and hopefully I'll have more details & pictures for you. again, great job on the kitchen! much love!
